 SURFACE PREPARATION

All surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry and free from dirt, oil, grease, wax, soap residue, heel marks, loose paint and any other foreign matter. Glossy surfaces must be scuff sanded with fine grit sandpaper or screen in order to obtain the maximum adhesion of this coating. Freshly painted floors must be allowed to cure completely before applying this product (30 days is typical).

WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.

 DIRECTIONS

Crosslinker Addition: (See MSDS for safety precautions) While hand stirring vigorously or slowly mixing with a drill mounted impeller, gradually pour in crosslinker 197-0001 (two fl. oz. per gallon of finish). Continue stirring for two minutes after crosslinker addition. Do not mix so briskly as to create excessive foam/bubbles. Crosslinked product may be used for up to 8 hours. A fresh mixture should be prepared after 8 hours.

Application: Apply without thinning by brush, notched squeegee, or airless sprayer. If the floor is smooth, this product can be applied by using a Padco® Lightweight T-Bar following manufacturer’s directions. Rolling is not recommended as this can leave bubbles in the film. Topcoating usually requires just one coat applied at 500-650 sq. ft. per gallon. Square foot averages will vary depending upon surface texture and porosity. If a second coat is desired, allow a minimum of two-hours dry time between coats but not more than 24 hours. If an additional coat is desired after 24 hours has elapsed since the previous coat was applied, lightly sand the floor first with fine grit sandpaper or screen and then remove all dust before applying recoat. Do not puddle the coating as this can lead to a milky appearance and poor adhesion.
