  • Corrosion-resistant, high performance universal primer
  • VOC-compliant, lead and chromate free
  • Fast dry and economical
  • Suitable under most strong solvent topcoats
  • May also be used as a "barrier" coat over existing alkyd paints to prevent lifting by high performance topcoats
  • Available in gray, red (brown oxide), and off-white

Typical Uses

A fast dry, interior-exterior corrosion resistant phenolic alkyd primer formulated for application directly to ferrous metal. May be topcoated with a variety of finishes including epoxy, urethane, conventional alkyd and latex products. Not recommended for non-ferrous metals such as galvanized, aluminum or for use in immersion service. This product is lead and chromate free.

Surface Preparation

Surface must be free of moisture, grease or other contaminants. Remove loose paint, mill scale, rust, etc by hand tool cleaning (SP2), power tool cleaning (SP3) or abrasive blasting.

Application Equipment

The following is a guide; suitable equipment from other manufacturers may be used. Changes in pressure and tip size may be needed for proper spray characteristics.

  • Airless spray – Standard equipment with a 30:1 pump ratio or larger, with a 0.013-0.019-inch fluid tip.
  • Conventional spray – Industrial equipment such as DeVilbiss MBC or JGA gun, with 704 or 765 air cap and fluid tip E. Use moisture and oil trap in main air supply line and separate regulators for air and fluid pressure.
  • Brush – Natural bristle only.
  • Roller – Industrial cover with Phenolic core.
